Putting it all Together

PAY ATTENTION WHEN DOING THE CONNECTIONS FOR YOUR WIRING!

The +5volt Pin #1 and ground must be kept clear and well insulated.

If you get a short or inadvertently connect the wrong wires, you can fry your joystick, sound-card or worse......

CHECK AND TRIPLE CHECK ALL CONNECTIONS PRIOR TO HOOKING THE SETUP TO YOUR COMPUTER.........

......then, when ready, take a deep breath and while the computer is on, plug your joystick into the joystick port....any screen flickers or oddities that occur.... UNPLUG ASAP and check your wiring again. If nothing happens, you are probably ok.

Turn off the computer, reboot and go to, settings, control panel, and double click the Game controllers Joystick Icon.

Click the add button and add a 3 axis 4 button control stick. Now these 1 meg pots are REALLY sensitive and it took a little while to figure out how to set them up for the computer to read them properly. Before you callibrate the setup, go to the "test" tab in the joystick panel. Make sure you have the allen screws that tighten the linkages onto the pot loosened, and make sure you have the pedals centered and the collective fully lowered. Turn the potentiometer shafts by hand until the red lines in the "joystick test page" for both axis 3 and 4 are centered. Then tighten the allen screws onto the pot shafts. Now continue with the callibration. After you have callibrated, go back to the "test" and make sure that the red lines go all the way up and down for the collective (axis 3) and that axis 4 is centered when the pedals are centered. If this is not the case, repeat the above procedure until it works correctly. Time taken here to properly set the controls up will be well worth it later.

All thats left to do now is to go flying!!
